Machine Learning
One Model, Every Crop
A single gradient-boosting model learns from all crops and mandis together, so even markets with a short history get forecasts. It also watches how the same crop is moving at other mandis in the state.
Forecasts up to 60 Days
Prices and arrivals are forecast 3, 7, 14, 30, 45 and 60 days ahead, with an 80% range. Where the model can't beat "the price stays the same" for a crop and horizon, we show today's price instead of a worse guess.
Sell Now or Hold
We say HOLD only when tomorrow's price is expected to rise by at least a crop-specific margin learned from past years, and only for crops where this beat simply selling right away. Otherwise: SELL NOW.
Every forecast comes with a confidence %: how often forecasts for that market landed within 10% of the actual price (50% for arrivals), or how often the sell/hold call was right. Markets with little history borrow their crop's average until they build their own record.
Accuracy (Tested on January–July 2026)
Every number below comes from forecasts made as if in the past, for months the model was not trained on, and scored against what the mandis actually reported.

- Sell now / hold call: right 74% of the time the next day (always selling straight away would have been right 73% of the time).
- Versus "the price stays the same": where the model is used, its price forecasts are 5% (3 days) to 18% (60 days) closer to the actual price.
- Honest confidence: the confidence we show matched how often forecasts actually landed, within about 3 percentage points on average.
